This series evolved from becoming a parent myself. Throughout the early years of parenting I met many other women and their children, many have become life long friends. Throughout the series I wanted to document the strong bonds which exist between a mother and her children.
I am often asked why I didn’t include the father figure at the time it seemed very natural to me not to because most of the time we spent together was without the fathers there. There were many occasions that I did offer to include the father in one of the shots so the family would be complete. The shots including the fathers were very often alot more structured than with the mothers. They would rigorously arrange their family and tell them the expression to portray.
